AI Goes Production Meets Sovereignty: Model Choice Is Now an Architecture Decision

AI strategy is quietly changing shape. Over the last year many teams treated LLMs as an “add-on” (a feature, a pilot, a bot). In the last 48 hours of coverage, the signal is stronger: AI is becoming a production engineering reality and a policy/sovereignty object at the same time—meaning CTOs can no longer separate model selection, developer workflow, observability, and compliance into different lanes.

On the engineering side, the conversation is shifting from “can we build with AI?” to “how do we run it reliably and measure its ROI?” QCon’s 2026 preview explicitly centers production AI, resilience, and platform ROI—an indicator that leading orgs now see agentic AI as a systems problem, not a novelty feature (InfoQ: QCon preview).
